The Breakdown of Osheaga 2014

wpid-2014-08-01-10.01.48-1.jpg.jpeg

In this 7 hour car ride back home from the ever so magnificent weekend in Montreal I will be giving you a recap of the best moments at Osheaga!

The floral headbands had a strong presence at this 3 day weekend festival that accompanied some pretty rad artists.

DAY ONE:

Starting the day off with watching The Mowgli’s, they created the perfect ambiance of feel good vibes for the weekend. There were multiple stages through out the venue so we could explore different genres. Now i’m not the type of person to know every single artists albums and songs but I do know a fair amount of artists so I was amped to see every performer. Knowing wherever I was, I would be vibing with some sick ass music. Throughout the day we saw Awolnation, Bleachers and Foster the People. Mastering the crowd, Julia and I made it to the very front of a crowd of 2000 people to end the night with Childish Gambino and Skrillex. So close that we didn’t even need zoom for any of our pictures, and mosh pits happening all around us, I knew that this weekend was going to be a blast!
Ps. Mosh pits are basically when a group of people just get into a really big circle and atary pushing each other around while jumping like maniacs to the music. Its not meant to be a violent action, its all good fun.

DAY TWO:

Walking straight into the venue we were just on time to welcome Serena Ryder to the stage. Originally going into the set list thinking I only knew two or three songs, I was clearly proved wrong as I jammed to each one. Serena is a women that is so musically inclined that its almost inspiring. At one point she was singing, playing a guitar while drumming! After our overly priced lunch/dinner we saw HAIM from afar as our feet began to look like they just came out of a horror movie. The talented girls ended up covering XO by Beyonce and obviously I started getting more hyped. To be honest this day didn’t have many artists that I was excited to see so it was a more laid back day. The girls really wanted to see Jack White so we started making our way through the crowd during J. Coles set. At one point we stopped and this man behind me started pushing my hair and I said excuse me?! And he responded, “uhmm.. your hair… its like Mufasa”. I died laughing cause to be truthfully honest it was at that point. Finally we get close to Jack White and a most pit. Not knowing any of his songs I still bobbed my head and pretended like I knew what I was doing. Then we headed back to the hotel for a night out on the town resulting in a 40 minute walk home (6 subway stops away from our hotel). That bed was a blessing that night!

DAY THREE:

Lack of sleep and over-tiredness really hit us this day but we managed to power through. For some odd reason Sunday was the busiest day so manoeuvring through the crowds had to be done with precision! We made it just in time to see Vance Joy play so jamming out to Riptide obviously could happen. Then we grabbed some food and found a picnic bench to rest on. Having the perfect view to see Kodaline play as we bobbed our heads to the music. I was able to meet up with some old friends and tagged along with them for the rest of the evening. We ended the night watching Half Moon Run, Lorde and The Glitch Mob.

The Feeling of Numinous

tumblr_mo7g5bRDlX1r6nm6ao1_500

It may seem like I am only gone for a year and I am only a quick 2 hour ride from home but it seems a lot more different and bigger than that. Its saying goodbye to friends, its knowing that you won’t have those people you have been through hell and back just a car ride away and its knowing that your absolutely 100% free.

365 days ago I would not have imagined that I would be where I am today. I had no idea what I was wanting to do with my life and was coming out of an unhealthy relationship where I was very focused on the present, but not realizing I should of been concentrating on myself. Always wrapping myself up on how others thought of me rather than creating my own vision. This year has taught me so much about myself, my friends, my loved ones and the world around me. There are few people who I will stay in touch with once I leave, but those who I will keep in contact with will be the ones who I know will stick with me through thick and thin. Knowing that we could go a couple months with no talking and then as soon as we chat everything flows back into place and its like we never spent that time apart.

Being proud of who I am is probably one of the biggest compliments I can give myself.  Sometimes they say hitting rock bottom helps you reach the top. Realizing there is no concealer that will cover up my past and that I need just need to accept it. I am ready for bigger and better things. I have been waiting for this day for what seems like years (and it probably has been). But see, this year was much needed. To gather thoughts, to find me, to be me, and to experience me. And its weird because a lot of people say they are happy to leave highschool. Yet I am stuck in this weird state where I am overjoyed with the thought of moving to a new city, and how I will miss my passion and dedication towards the hobbies I loved in school. Being told multiple times in the past year that I was a role model or someone that I inspired an action of positive doing leaves me in awe. I would have never thought that I had an impact on people. Its an outlandish way to see ourselves as that sometimes, like really I AM A ROLE MODEL? LOL WUT… I am ever so thankful that people think this about me. And as I sit in a war-torn room that now only consists of a bed and dresser and how I am literally packing up my life and moving it all onto new things. Its inspiring to see that maybe one of us will be the next Mia Farrow or Nelson Mandela or one who will create a change in government. Its crazy to think we are all heading somewhere, we are all on a path. Life is happening and its a little overwhelming but sometimes we just need to leap and just let life take you by the hands and lead you to where you need to be led to.

This post was inspired by this short film:

10581280_10152216062382021_892059650_nBeen loving these two bold pieces to wear this summer and decided one day to do an instagram lookbook for them! I used a few different apps to edit these ones but ya’ll should check out VSCO Cam and Studio. Both lovely and really cool photo editing apps I have been dying over lately.

Now onto the fashion! Since I am going off to school in September I am trying to budget as much as I can. This means shopping thrift and trying to create new outfits with my current clothes. Below you can see two different styles of clothing I have paired with a halter top I purchased earlier in the year! ENJOY 🙂

Snaps of a life that will pass in a shutter click

10577952_10152208402192021_845864190_n

We are at a point in our lives where we are saying farewell to many and hello to the new. Growing up is making me want to cherish the times I have with my friends and family because I know in the near future these times will be a lot more rare and sparse. Now realizing this would like be my last summer where I had everyday off, I took it into my own hands and made it an unforgettable one for the time I had here with my friends and family. Thus sparking the idea to head to the cottage with some relatives for a few relaxing days! Packing up for the 4 day venture to the small town of Bayfield, ON, we had sunsets bestowed upon us every evening and beachy waves during the day. Having a few rainy drizzles here and there we kept the breezy coolers and boardgames at hand. The classics obviously being CLUE and a very similar version to monopoly but our childhood game Harry Potter. Set on Crystal Springs Blvd. we awoke to a 70s theme cottage with the standard wood panelling as walls, and that swampy green and thick orange tinge that lies in the floral design of many pieces of furniture. It reminded me a lot of “That 70’s Show” and how they would all circle around in Eric’s basement and the camera would ring back and forth to all the characters. Tucked in the home away from home, I highly recommend checking out this vacation spot for a week long getaway with the fam jam!

Here is a little sneak peak into the snaps of a life that will pass in a shutter click!

Experiencing World Pride from Backstage

Picture this: Your side stage and its pouring rain, in front of you is the headliner who is about to go on, to your left is a massive soaking wet crowd who are all still energetic and a soon to be above me is a double rainbow. Now this is an appropriate way to end a freaking awesome weekend at World Pride in Toronto, Canada.

I had the amazing opportunity to come and volunteer at World Pride this year as Artist Relations and Hospitality (basically making sure our performers are happy!). Estatic that I would be backstage and staying in Toronto for a few days, I decided I would live in the moment and make sure I took everything in. Staying in my soon to be future city made me all the more excited for college as well!

World Pride is something anyone and everyone should experience. There is so much going on and such lovely people to converse with there. Its hard to describe but you could tell everyone was in their element and just having an overall fantastic time. To sum it up everyone was just filled with pride!

I highly suggest making a commitment next year and be a volunteer for Toronto Pride at their annual pride weekend. Its an experience that will expose you to the LGBT community, and acquaint you with so many friendly individuals. As a straight person myself, you don’t need to be someone of the LGBT Community in order to be a participant of pride week or volunteer. I am someone who fully supports the cause and community because I have so many friends and family who are apart of it.

Backstage had its perks so I was able to see some pretty rad artists, like Neon Hitch!

The double rainbow just made the experience all the more special!

Plus I met some pretty rad people who greeted my oh so early mornings with a great smile!

Stay tuned for more adventures!

Zen Doodles

Zen Doodle

Zen DoodleSpending the evening nostalgically doodling which resulted in this pretty rad zen doodle. Composed of my own piece of artwork was pretty liberating as it has been quite some time since I have picked up a pen and just gone with the flow. But if you didn’t know what “zen doodles” are, its basically a creative doodle with numerous patterns which tend to form a random subject, for instance mine was a person. If you want to learn more I suggest looking at the Pinterest tag of it.

The photos below are just the process of my work. I plan on doing more of these in the future so stay tuned!

Welcome to Future Yoga Mom

futureyogamom3

I am a hardcore inspirational activist who has an abnormal obsession with pugs. I’m not afraid to be who I am, and I firmly believe we only have one life, so we need to live it to the fullest. I aim to seize every experience that comes by because I like to treat them as “once in a lifetime opportunities”. If you ask me what I am most proud of, I will be delighted to answer myself. You may ask why? But I can honestly say I have come so far from who I used to be, and I believe it is important for individuals to praise and recognize these special accomplishments.

A junkie for inspiring mantras, I can only dream of the days I spend in Bali, Thailand and the beaches that will increase my desire to travel. I have a passion for travelling even though my stories are at a minimal, I still aim to live the adventurous life while living in Ontario, Canada. By the age of 19 I have experienced a fair amount of “once in a lifetime opportunities”! I have ventured out to LA for an incredible one week conference with Invisible Children, have worked with a Canadian organization called Me to We, volunteered with World Pride as Artist Relations and Hospitality (basically making sure all the celebs are comfortable, which is so rad), and worked as a Communications Coordinator in a start-up business incubator. Luckily I have had a one hell of a high-school career and now I am off to Humber College in the fall for Public Relations.

Which leads me to explain why am I starting this blog! This is an outlet for me to have some real deep life chats on maybe some mantras I come across, advice to the average teenage soul, and possibly stories from my life experiences. Its an overall feel good blog, the vibe may change from week-to-week, but it should be an easy breezy read.

If you ever want to get to know me a little bit more feel free to drop a question in the comments and I will answer it with no hesitation!
